Fungai was born in Dema Seke in July 1967 , he has spent most of his life in Chitungwiza he fell in love with music from an early age. Fungai started playing bass guitar in 1987 and in 1994 took up lead guitar. Oliver Mutukudzi inspired Fungai. Fungai became a full time musician when he started working with the late Ambuya Madhuve in Highfields. Fungai went on to play Jit music with the late Mr Bulk , David Chiyangwa. He was lead vocals on the song Mujingare Gomo. Fungai formed his own band- pictured called Chisungo meaning "oneness".
The dream is to record an album with the band. Chisungo can be seen playing at Jit Stations in Zengeza and Chikwaka.
