Nheketo Mbira Crew

The core players of Nheketo are Jacob and James Maponga- the brothers started playing traditional music under the guidance of their father Philip Maponga when they were only twelve years old. The third member of the group Cunliffe joined last year.

The trio all live close to each other in Unit A Chitungwiza.  The group are currently practising and refining their skills. The band are not full time musicians. All three work in the motor industry and use music as a hobby and creative outlet. The band play occassionally at Hams in Chitungwiza and Kings Night club Chikwaka. Who knows if you have your car serviced these talented musicians maybe doing the work.
