1. Introduction
    1. Mukuru Back to School 2023 competition (“the Competition”) is being run by SMH Botswana Bureau de Change (Pty) Ltd (Company Registration number CO2012/7660) (“Mukuru”) from 3 January 2023 to 31 January 2023 (“the Competition Period”) subject to these specific terms and conditions and the general terms and conditions for competitions and competitions which can be found at www.mukuru.com (“Competition Ts
    2. By participating in the Competition, you confirm that you have read and agree to be legally bound by the Competition Ts & Cs.

  2. Competition Entry Requirements:
    1. In order to enter the Competition, you must:
      1. be a registered Botswana Mukuru Customer; and
      2. send money from Botswana to your chosen recipient locally or internationally, using the Mukuru Service during the Competition Period; and
      3. comply with these Ts & Cs
    2. Persons who fulfil the requirements of clause 2.1 above will be referred to as “Qualifying Participants” for the purposes of the Competition.
    3. Mukuru must process your personal information to validate your entry and if you are a winner, to make the Prize available to you. By entering the Competition, you consent to us processing your personal information for this purpose. If you do not consent, please do not enter the Competition.
  3. Winner selection and prizes
    1. One (1) random winner will be selected daily by adding up all the Qualifying Participants across all the following corridors: South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Lesotho. There will thus be a total of 31 winners during the Competition Period (3 from Botswana).
    2. Winners will be selected each day.   
    3. If a Botswana based winner is randomly selected to win a prize, such winner will win school fees for one child of their choice to the value of P7,500 (“the Prize”). The winner will need to supply a copy of the child’s school fee invoice.
    4. If a Botswana winner signed up for a Mukuru Wallet during the Competition Period and sent money as referred to in clause 2.1.2 above by using their Mukuru Wallet, such winner will, in addition to the Prize, also win an additional P4,000 cash.
  4. Announcement of winners
    1. The winners will be contacted telephonically or via sms (if available) and will also be announced on Mukuru’s social media platforms on a weekly basis;
    2. If Mukuru is unable to contact you after three tries, or you refuse to give us banking details for payment of the Prize within 7 days from date of being contacted, then the prize will be forfeited.If Mukuru is unable to contact you after three tries, or you fail to collect your Prize at a Mukuru booth or branch within one month from termination of the Competition, then the prize will be forfeited
  5. Payment of prizes
    1. For each Qualifying Participant who receives a Prize, such amount will be paid either into the winner’s nominated bank account (after the winner advises Mukuru of their bank details), or sent for collection by the winner at a Mukuru booth or branch, within 7 days. Winners who collect at a Mukuru booth or branch will need to show valid identification in order to collect.
  6. General
    1. Mukuru employees, directors, agents, contractors, consultants will not be allowed to enter the competition.      
    2. Qualifying Entrants must be 18 years or older.
    3. If for any reason, the Competition cannot run as planned because of any technical failures, unauthorised intervention, computer virus, mobile network failure, tampering, fraud or any other causes beyond our control which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, Mukuru reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify, suspend or cancel the Competition and/or to disqualify any individual who (whether directly or indirectly) causes (or has caused) the problem.
    4. Mukuru may vary the terms of or cancel the Competition at any time. Mukuru may vary or cancel the Competition at any time without any liability to any person involved directly or indirectly in the Competition.
    5. Mukuru cannot be held liable for any loss, expense or damage to any person participating in the Competition.
    6. Neither Mukuru nor its agents shall be responsible for any loss or misdirected entries, including entries that were not received due to any failure of hardware, software, or other computer or technical systems affecting participating and/or prize redemption process of the Competition.
    7. A failure by Mukuru to enforce any one of the terms and conditions in any instance(s) will not give rise to any claim or right of action by any Qualifying Entrant. If Mukuru does not enforce a provision, this will not mean that Mukuru has given up on or lost any rights.
    8. Mukuru will not assume any liability to any participant, or Qualifying Entrant in connection with or arising out of the Competition or Prize however it is caused, including for any costs, expenses, forfeited rewards, damages and other liabilities.
    9. These Competition Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Botswana.
