A fantastic new opportunity has become available for a Training and Development Manager to join our HR Team in Cape Town.

The main purpose of the role is to effectively manage and coordinate all training and development initiatives across the company.

The Training and Development Manager reports directly to the Head of HR. This position is responsible for ensuring all training initiatives are delivered effectively and in line with the company training and development strategy. The Soft Skills Facilitator and Training Facilitator report directly to this position. The Training and Development Manager oversees all staff training, including but not limited to onboarding, Train the Trainer, compliance, customer service, systems, products, skills etc.

Internal Liaison takes place with the HR and management teams. External liaison takes place with external consultants and service providers. 

Duties and responsibilities (includes but is not limited to):

  • To manage the effective delivery of all training and development programs within the Mukuru Group
  • Create an overall training strategy that is in line with the HR strategy and company vision
  • Compile and implement an annual training calendar
  • Oversee and manage the Training Facilitator and Soft Skills Facilitator to ensure that all training is provided in a professional manner
  • Ensure consistency across all training programs
  • Compile training content and training aids
  • Manage the onboarding of new staff
  • Ensure continuous training by way of development profiles per individuals
  • Monitor the quality of all training material produced and used by trainers
  • To liaise with internal department heads to identify and establish training needs
  • Liaise with various departments in order to establish specific requirements or address training gaps
  • Ensure effective training programs are designed and put into place to meet individual, role and business needs
  • Liaise with digital customer journey lead to ensure effective delivery and monitoring of training channels (E-learning, questionnaires etc.)
  • To manage SETA requirements and oversee the collation and submission of all training reports
  • Ensure SETA accredited training programs are used as far as possible for all external training
  • Design internal training programs that can be submitted for SETA accreditation
  • Oversee the collation of all training spreadsheets to ensure all training is accurately captured
  • Ensure the WSP is accurately completed and submitted on time
  • Make sure maximum SDL is claimed back
  • To ensure all training programs are delivered in a professional manner
  • Conduct assessments on training programs by randomly attending training sessions and completing Training Visit Assessments
  • Ensure all training staff hand out and collect training review forms
  • Analyse the results of all training review forms and identify areas for improvement
  • Monitor that corrective action has been implemented where training needs / gaps have been identified
  • Ensure training policies are in place and up to date
  • To compile and submit all required internal training reports
  • Compile and submit monthly training reports
  • To manage the Training team effectively
  • Coach and mentor all trainers
  • Provide advice and guidance to trainers
  • Conduct bi-annual performance reviews with training team
  • Ensure trainers are cross-trained in order to ensure sufficient training resources are available at all times
  • Carry out HR Administrative tasks (leave approval, recruitment)
  • To manage own professional and self-development

Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
  • Tertiary qualification in HR / training related field (Essential)
  • 10 years training and development experience (Essential)
  • 2 years management / supervisory experience (Essential)
  • 2 years experience in the financial services industry (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of training methodologies
  • Knowledge of training best practice
  • Knowledge of Mukuru products and services
  • Knowledge of individual and team development programs
  • Knowledge of soft skills and hard skills training
