An exciting opportunity is available for a Head of Sales & Operations to join our team in Cape Town.

The purpose of this role is to strategically manage the physical infrastructure operations and field sales across South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho and Mozambique.

The Head of Sales & Operations reports directly to the COO.

This position is responsible for managing the Mukuru own vertical physical infrastructure as well as sales functions within South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho and Mozambique. They are responsible for ensuring the overall effective running as well as growth of these countries’ operations. The Head of Sales & Operations must ensure all required infrastructure is in place as well as effectively manage the staffing & risk throughout the countries.  They are required to carry out cash management functions and oversee the field sales. The position is also responsible for ensuring compliance is adhered to by staff and infrastructure in accordance with regulatory and licensing requirements

Internal Liaison takes place with internal staff, customer service, training, business development, IT, marketing, BI and finance teams. External liaison takes place with service providers and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but is not limited to):

•To strategically manage and grow the business operations in assigned countries

•Develop, recommend and implement a medium-term strategy for the assigned countries

•Identify ways to increase overall revenue and decrease expenditure while not compromising on customer service

•Provide all required reporting for statutory and regulatory boards timeously and accurately

•Ensure all branches are complaint with relevant regulations

•To ensure all required infrastructure is in place •Assist with the system testing on new applications and updates

•Coordinate the release of new updates or systems and training for staff

•To conduct audits to ensure procedures are followed and manage potential risks

•Carry out cash management functions, carrying out daily checks between ICFX and physical cash in the safes by matching the reports from virtual system and back up of manual records

•Manage the master petty cash and create monthly overall reconciliation •To expand and develop business within the assigned regions

•Keep abreast of remittance developments within assigned countries •Ensure Agent Remuneration and commission incentives models delivered the desire return on investment

•To manage the relationship between the company and external parties within assigned countries

•To perform general people management functions

•Ensure sufficient staffing and manage headcount in all assigned countries •Participate in recruitment processes for new staff

•Ensure staff training and refresher training is carried out as and when required

•To conduct performance management functions to ensure effective running of the operations

Minimum Requirements:

•Grade 12 / or equivalent (Essential)

•Relevant degree (Essential)

•10 years’ experience in the Financial / Foreign Exchange Industry (Essential) of which 5 years senior management experience (Essential)

•Knowledge of, remittances, financial services and foreign exchange principles

•Knowledge of remittance processes and systems

•Knowledge of customer service principles

•Knowledge of relevant regulatory and statutory requirements

•Knowledge of HR principles

•Knowledge of auditing principles
