A combined celebration of Father’s Day and Youth Day Weekend will have Capetonians dancing on their feet at the Cape Town Artscape Theatre in a once-off concert this Friday, 15 June 2018.
The perfect representatives for both celebrations are coming together on one stage with the father of Zimbabwean music Dr. Oliver Mtukudzi, while he gives rise to talented young Zimbabwean musicians Probeats, Sylent Nqo and Bryan K, who will be his supporting acts.
Xtratime Entertainment frontman, Tongai Mbidzo, told online arts and culture publication Zimbo Jam that this concert has three main aims.
“We aim to bring quality Zimbabwean entertainment to Cape Town residents thereby playing a part in community/society interaction through arts and culture. Secondly, we want to create a platform for Zimbabweans living in South Africa to socialise and exchange positive ideas and inspire positive social messages and behaviour through Oliver Mtukudzi’s songs and music. Lastly, we want to celebrate Tuku’s 67th album to the Zimbabwean community living in South Africa and Tuku fan base from other countries residing in South Africa.”
Mukuru was also involved in supporting Mtukudzi’s previous performance in 2017 when he performed in South Africa for his 65th birthday.
“Dr Oliver Mtukudzi is a good friend of Mukuru and we feel honoured and privileged to collaborate with a legend.”
