The Mukuru Back-to-School Digital Competition (“the Competition”) is being run by Mukuru Money Transfer Limited (Company Registration number 13982) trading as Mukuru (“Mukuru”) from 11 September 2023 – 11 October 2023 (“the Competition Period”) subject to these specific terms and conditions and the general terms and conditions for competitions which can be found at www.mukuru.com (“Competition Ts & Cs”)
By participating in the Competition, you confirm that you have read and agree to be legally bound by the Competition Ts & Cs (as may be applicable) and that you have the legal authority to enter the Competition for the benefit of the child who will be the beneficiary of the Prize.

Competition Entry Requirements:
In order to qualify for entry into the Competition:
you must collect your Mukuru international money transfer order (strictly not local money transfers) at any Mukuru branch or booth in Malawi during the Competition Period. A collection at a Mukuru partner does not qualify;
You must be the parent or lawful guardian of the child;
The school that the child is enrolled in must be situated in Blantyre, Malawi;
You must abide by all the Competition Ts and Cs.
Your personal information: For the purposes of the Competition, Mukuru will need to process your personal information. For example, your personal information will be used to validate your entry, make the reward available to you if you are a winner, announce the winners on social media and potentially share your personal information with 3rd parties in other countries. Protecting your personal information is important to Mukuru and will be processed according to our Privacy Notice. By entering the Competition, you consent to us processing your personal information for the purposes of the Competition.
The child’s personal information: For the purposes of the Competition, Mukuru will need to process the child’s personal information. For example, the child’s personal information will be used to validate the school enrolment, make the reward available to you if you are a winner, announce the winners on social media including the use of photos and videos. For Mukuru to process a child’s personal information it must have the consent of the child’s parent or legal guardian to do so. A consent form will be provided to the winner.
Entrants who fulfil the requirements of clause 2.1 – 2.3 above will be referred to as “Qualifying Participants” for the purposes of the Competition.
The Prize
All Qualifying Participants from Malawi, who meet the entry requirements will be entered into a random draw to stand a chance to win the Prize during the Competition Period.
The Prize consists of the following:
the child of the winning Qualifying Participant will meet some of the Mukuru Mighty Wanderers team members at his/her school (date in October will be confirmed by Mukuru in its sole discretion). It is not guaranteed that all Mukuru Mighty Wanderers team members will attend on the day.
Photos and videos of the child and the Mukuru Mighty Wanderers team members will be taken. These photos and the video footage will be shared by Mukuru on social media and may be used on broadcasting platforms.
Only 1 winner will be chosen. The winner will be announced around 16 October 2023. The winner will be contacted telephonically.
If a winner:
cannot or does not want to sign a consent form which gives Mukuru permission to process personal information belonging to the child (under the age of 18 years) in accordance with the data protection legislation; or
3.5.2 cannot or does not provide Mukuru with the child’s full names, physical address (if applicable) and primary school name and address; or
3.5.3 cannot be contacted after 3 (three) telephone calls;
then the winner will forfeit the Prize.
General
Mukuru employees will not be allowed to enter the Competition.
Qualifying Participants must be 18 years or older.
A Qualifying Participant can only win once during the Competition Period.
Prize cannot be exchanged for cash or another reward.
If for any reason, the Competition cannot run as planned because of the Mukuru Mighty Wanderers being unavailable, any technical failures, vehicle problems, unauthorised intervention, computer virus, mobile network failure, tampering, fraud or any other causes beyond our control which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, we reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify, suspend or cancel the Competition and/or to disqualify any individual who (whether directly or indirectly) causes (or has caused) the problem.
Mukuru may vary the terms of or cancel the Competition at any time. Mukuru may vary or cancel the Competition at any time without any liability to any person involved directly or indirectly in the Competition.
Mukuru cannot be held liable for any type of loss, expense or damage to any person participating in the Competition.
Neither Mukuru nor its agents shall be responsible for any loss or misdirected entries, including entries that were not received due to any failure of hardware, software, or other computer or technical systems affecting participating and/or prize redemption process of the Competition.
A failure by Mukuru to enforce any one of the terms and conditions in any instance(s) will not give rise to any claim or right of action by any Qualifying Participant or winner. If Mukuru does not enforce a provision, this will not mean that Mukuru has given up on or lost any rights.
Mukuru will not assume any liability to any participant, Qualifying Participant, or prize winner in connection with or arising out of the Competition however it is caused, including for any costs, expenses, forfeited prizes, damages and other liabilities
These Competition Terms and Conditions are governed by and determined in accordance with the laws of Malawi.
