Terms & Conditions for the Mukuru Africa Month Competition

  1. Introduction
    1. The Mukuru Africa Month Competition (“the Competition”) is being run by Mukuru Africa (Pty) Ltd (Company Registration number 2013/003424/07) (“Mukuru”) between 01 May 2023 – 30 June 2023 (“the Competition Period”) subject to these specific terms and conditions and the general terms and conditions for competitions and Competitions which can be found at www.mukuru.com (“Competition Ts & Cs”).  
    2. By participating in the Competition, you confirm that you have read and agree to be legally bound by the Competition Ts & Cs.

  2. Competition Entry Requirements:
    1. To qualify to participate in the Competition, you must:
      1. be a registered Mukuru Customer (as defined by Mukuru); and
      2. send R700 (Seven Hundred Rand) or more to a recipient of your choice, during the Competition Period; and
      3. you must comply with these terms and conditions.
    2. Persons who fulfil the requirements of clause 2.1 above will be referred to as “Qualifying Participants” for the purposes of the Competition.
    3. Mukuru must process your personal information to validate your entry and if you are a winner, to make the reward available to you. By entering the Competition, you consent to us processing your personal information for this purpose. If you do not consent, please do not enter the Competition.
  3. The Reward
    1. All Qualifying Participants across Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa, Zambia, UK, Malawi, Uganda  and Zimbabwe will be entered into a draw to stand a chance of winning their share of a total of R1 million (One million Rand).
    2. A random draw will take place weekly (thus nine random draws in total) where 3 (three) winners per draw (a total of 28 winners during the Competition Period), across Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa, Zambia, UK, Malawi, Uganda  and Zimbabwe, will be selected.
    3. Winners will stand a chance to win one of the below prizes See prize table
    4. There will be 4 winners from SA, 4 winners from Zambia, 4 winners from Zimbabwe, 4 winners from Malawi, 2 winners from Botswana, 3 winners from Lesotho, 2 winners from Uganda and 3 winners from the UK.
    5. Winners who sent the amount referred to in clause 2.1.2 with their Mukuru Card will be entered into a new draw where one lucky winner will win an additional R10,000 (Ten Thousand Rand).
    6. The winners of the prizes set out in 3.2 and 3.5 will be contacted telephonically within 48 hours of winning and may also be announced on social media. If Mukuru is unable to contact the winner within 3 (three) attempts and the winner does not contact Mukuru to claim the prize within 30 days from the end of the Competition Period, or the winner does not supply valid banking details within 7 days of being contacted, then the prize will be forfeited.
    7. The prize will be paid into the nominated bank account or into the winner’s Mukuru Card (at the winner’s option) within fourteen (14) working days from the date that Mukuru receives the required payment details from the winner.
  4. General
    1. Mukuru employees and agents will not be allowed to enter the Competition.
    2. Qualifying Participants must be 18 years or older.
    3. If for any reason, the Competition cannot run as planned because of any technical failures, unauthorised intervention, computer virus, mobile network failure, stock unavailability, tampering, fraud or any other causes beyond our control which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, we reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify, suspend or cancel the Competition and/or to disqualify any individual who (whether directly or indirectly) causes (or has caused) the problem.
    4. Mukuru may vary the terms of or cancel the Competition at any time. Mukuru may vary or cancel the Competition at any time without any liability to any person involved directly or indirectly in the Competition.
    5. The reward is not transferrable for cash or otherwise.
    6. Mukuru cannot be held liable for any loss, expense or damage to any person participating in the Competition. Mukuru does not endorse the Reward and the Reward is made available “as is”. Any warranties available in respect of the Reward will be those made available by the manufacturer and Mukuru makes no warranties as to merchantability , functionality, fit-for-purpose or quality.
    7. A failure by Mukuru to enforce any one of the terms and conditions in any instance(s) will not give rise to any claim or right of action by any Qualifying Participant. If Mukuru does not enforce a provision, this will not mean that Mukuru has given up on or lost any rights.
    8. Mukuru will not assume any liability to any participant, or Qualifying Participant in connection with or arising out of the Competition however it is caused, including for any costs, expenses, forfeited rewards, damages and other liabilities
    9. These Competition Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of South Africa.
