1. Introduction
    1. The Mukuru Birthday Digital Competition (“the Competition”) is being run by:
      1. Mukuru Africa (Pty) Ltd  (Company Registration number 2013/003424/07 for SA customers;
      2. Remitix Limited (Company Registration number 5270734)  for UK customers;
      3. Send Money Home Private Limited  (Company Registration number 1446/2012) for Zimbabwean customers;
      4. SMH Botswana Bureau de Change (Pty) Ltd (Company Registration number CO2012/7660) for Botswana customers;
      5. Mukuru Money Transfer Limited  (Company Registration number 120130109728) for Zambian customers;
      6. Mukuru Money Transfer Limited  (Company Registration number 13982) for Malawi customers; trading as Mukuru (“Mukuru”) from 1 September 2021 to 30 September 2021 (“the Competition Period”) subject to these specific terms and conditions and the general terms and conditions for competitions which can be found at www.mukuru.com (“Competition Ts & Cs”)
    2. By participating in the Competition, you confirm that you have read and agree to be legally bound by the Competition Ts & Cs (as may be applicable).

  2. Competition Entry Requirements:
    1. In order to qualify for entry into the Competition you must:
      1. be a registered Mukuru Customer in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi or the UK (as defined by Mukuru);
      2. comment on Mukuru’s Birthday Facebook post explaining how Mukuru has opened more possibilities for you and your family in the past 17 years. The comment must be done during the Competition Period;
      3. abide by all the Competition Ts and Cs.
    2. Mukuru must process your personal information to validate your entry and if you are a winner, to make the Prize available to you. By entering the Competition, you consent to us processing your personal information for this purpose. If you do not consent, please do not enter the Competition.
    3. Participants who fulfil the requirements of clause 2.1 and 2.2 above will be referred to as “Qualifying Participants” for the purposes of the Competition.
  3. Winners selection
    1. One winner will be randomly selected each day from the Qualifying Participants who commented on the particular day, during the Competition Period. Thus, there will be a total of thirty (30) random winners during the Competition Period.
    2. Each daily winner will win a cash amount of:
      1. South Africa: R500 (Five Hundred Rand)
      2. UK: 25 Pounds (Twenty Five Pounds)
      3. Zimbabwe: USD30 (Thirty US Dollars)
      4. Botswana: P370 (Three Hundred and Seventy Pula)
      5. Zambia: K500 (Five Hundred Zambian Kwacha)
      6. Malawi: K27000 (Twenty Seven Thousand Malawian Kwacha) (“the Prize”).
  4. Announcement of winners
    1. The winners will be contacted telephonically daily and will be announced on Mukuru’s social media platforms each Monday during the Competition Period;
    2. If Mukuru is unable to contact the winner within 7 (seven) days, then the prize will be forfeited.
  5. Payment of Prizes
    1. The winner may choose to allow Mukuru to send the Prize to the winner’s bank account or the winner may choose to create an order to remit the Prize to a recipient of his/her choice in applicable countries, using the Mukuru Service.
    2. Within 30 (thirty) days of announcement of the winners, Mukuru will create the applicable orders, or make the applicable payment into the winner’s bank account.
  6. General
    1. Mukuru employees will not be allowed to enter the Competition.
    2. Qualifying Participants must be 18 years or older.
    3. Qualifying Participants may only win once during the Competition Period.
    4. If for any reason, the Competition cannot run as planned because of any technical failures, unauthorised intervention, computer virus, mobile network failure, tampering, fraud or any other causes beyond our control which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, we reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify, suspend or cancel the Competition and/or to disqualify any individual who (whether directly or indirectly) causes (or has caused) the problem.
    5. Mukuru may vary the terms of or cancel the Competition at any time. Mukuru may vary or cancel the Competition at any time without any liability to any person involved directly or indirectly in the Competition.
    6. Mukuru cannot be held liable for any loss, expense or damage to any person participating in the Competition.
    7. Neither Mukuru  nor its agents shall be responsible for any loss or misdirected entries, including entries that were not received due to any failure of hardware, software, or other computer or technical systems affecting participating and/or prize redemption process of the Competition.
    8. A failure by Mukuru to enforce any one of the terms and conditions in any instance(s) will not give rise to any claim or right of action by any Qualifying Entrant or winner. If Mukuru does not enforce a provision, this will not mean that Mukuru has given up on or lost any rights.
    9. Mukuru will not assume any liability to any participant, Qualifying Participant, or prize winner in connection with or arising out of the Competition however it is caused, including for any costs, expenses, forfeited prizes, damages and other liabilities
    10. These Competition Terms and Conditions are governed by and determined in accordance with the laws of the country in which you reside.
