Terms & Conditions for the Mukuru “Make the catch and win $50” Competition

  1. Introduction
    1. The Mukuru “Make the catch and win $50”(“the Competition”) is run by Mukuru Financial Services Zimbabwe Limited (Company Registration Number 31/2024) (“Mukuru”) from 7 February 2025 – 31 December 2025 (“the Competition Period”), subject to these specific terms and conditions (“Specific Ts & Cs”) and the general terms and conditions for Competitions found at www.mukuru.com (“General Competition Ts & Cs”), together the “Competition Ts and Cs”..
    2. By participating in the Competition, you confirm that you have read and agree to be legally bound by the Competition Ts & Cs.

  2. Competition Entry Requirements:
    1. To qualify to participate in the Competition, you must:
      1. have signed up for the new Mukuru Wallet before or during the Competition Period by using WhatsApp (+263 867 700 9604) or USSD (*646#);
      2. attend a cricket match (official T20, ODI, or Test match) where the Zimbabwean Men’s National Team is playing:
      3. catch a match ball during any of the games under the following terms (“valid catch”):
        1. the catch must be a clean, one-handed catch off a ‘six’ hit during an official match taking place during the Competition Period (juggling the ball between one or two hands or any juggling whatsoever will not be accepted as a clean catch); and
        2. the catch must be captured and visible on stadium video, TV camera/broadcast or Mukuru/Zimbabwe Cricket coverage as it will be audited. 
        3. for the avoidance of doubt, a clean catch is a one-handed catch where the ball does not make contact with anything or anyone, i.e., it cannot bounce off any other person or object after leaving the bat until caught one-handed by the Participant after being struck out of the field of play. 
        4. either hand can be used to make a clean catch. 
        5. no gloves, whether sporting gloves (e.g., cricket wicket keeping gloves, baseball mitts, hockey gloves, etc.) or any other form of glove; or any other form of artificial assistance may be used to catch the ball. The ball may only be caught with a “bare” hand. 
        6. In verifying the Winning Catch, auditors will review the coverage of the catch made on stadium video or TV camera/broadcast. 
        7. Mukuru’s decision is final.
    2. Comply with these Terms and Conditions.
    3. “Qualifying Participants” will be those who fulfill the requirements set out in 2.1 and 2.2 above.
    4. Mukuru processes your personal information when you use the Mukuru Service. Protecting your personal information is important to Mukuru and processing is done according to our Privacy Notice. When we run Competitions and you qualify for a prize , Mukuru will need to process your personal information for additional purposes.  For example, your personal information may be used to validate your entry, make the prize available to you if you are a winner and potentially share your personal information with 3rd parties (including 3rd parties in other countries) who have a need to know.  We will ensure those 3rd parties have adequate data protection safeguards in place. Mukuru also announces the winners on social media or live on broadcast air. If the Competition includes Mukuru wanting to post photos of you as a winner on social media, you will be asked if you agree thereto.  By entering this Competition, you consent to Mukuru processing your personal information for the purposes of validating your entry, awarding the prize, and making any related announcements regarding the Competition. You may be asked to pose for a photo or video as part of the Competition and you have the right to refuse such a request without prejudice to you as a Winner.
  3. The Prize
    1. Each Winner that takes a valid catch will be awarded with a $50 (fifty US dollars) funding of their Mukuru Wallet.
    2. The Prize will be credited to the Winner’s Mukuru Wallet within seven (7) working days after the specific match in which the valid catch was taken.
    3. Winners must verify their identity by providing an ID or Passport, as well as their Mukuru Wallet details on the day of the valid catch.
  4. General
    1. Mukuru employees and agents (including their immediate family members) are not allowed to enter the Competition.
    2. Winners cannot decline a prize they have rightfully won or request a different prize.
    3. Mukuru reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Competition at any time if technical failures, unauthorized intervention, or any other causes beyond its control affect the fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Competition.
    4. If the Competition is terminated early, any winners determined prior to termination will still receive their prizes, provided they have complied with the Competition Ts and Cs. 
    5. The prize is not transferable for cash or any other item, unless otherwise stated in the Competition Ts and Cs.  or agreed in writing by Mukuru.
    6. Mukuru will not be liable for any costs, damages, or losses incurred by any participant or winner in connection with this Competition. The prize is provided “as is,” without any warranties other than those given by the original issuer (if applicable).
    7. Failure by Mukuru to enforce any of these T&Cs does not constitute a waiver of those terms and does not give rise to any claim by any participant.
    8. These T&Cs are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe. By entering the Competition, you agree to indemnify Mukuru against any claims or liabilities arising from your participation or acceptance of a prize.
  5. Acceptance
    1. By participating in this Competition, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the Competition Ts and Cs.
