I was born and bred in Zimbabwe but moved to South Africa with my family over 10 years ago in search of greener pastures. My experience of education in Zimbabwe has taught me to work hard, to be responsible and persistent. These lessons have carried me through to where I am today.
As a business developer at Mukuru, I’m part of the team that ensures business improvements take place and that we secure partnerships with people who share the same vision as Mukuru: to help customers send and collect money without any hassles.
I have worked at Mukuru for five years. I understand the sacrifice and the hard work that our customers put in to feed their families and send their children to school. Each money transfer is for an important reason and l enjoy being part of the Mukuru family that helps to fulfill this purpose and to make a difference in the lives of others.
The advice I would give someone wanting to start a career in South Africa is that persistence is the key. Never stop trying and do not be afraid to show off your potential. We all have to start somewhere and it doesn’t matter if the job you start with has no relevance to what you want to become. Any and all work experience is important, it builds up your career and it will be useful in the future.
I try to live by these words by Tony Robbins: “Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being excited about what could go right”.
