Terms & Conditions for the Mukuru Christmas Competition

  1. Introduction
    1. The Mukuru Christmas Competition (“the Competition”) is being run by Send Money Home Private Limited  (Company Registration number 1446/2012)  trading as Mukuru (“Mukuru”) from 21 November 2022 – 31 December 2022 (“the Competition Period”) subject to these specific terms and conditions and the general terms and conditions for competitions which can be found at www.mukuru.com (“Competition Ts & Cs”)
    2. By participating in the Competition, you and the recipient confirm that you have both read and agree to be legally bound by the Competition Ts & Cs (as may be applicable).

  2. Competition Entry Requirements:
    1. In order to qualify for entry into the Competition:
      1. you be a registered Mukuru Customer (as defined by Mukuru);
      2. using Mukuru, you must send a minimum amount of USD40 (Forty US Dollars) to a recipient of your choice, during the Competition Period;
      3. You must have a valid passport and a valid work permit (the documents need to be valid until after the Crystal Palace prize game dates) and should be able to travel between February or March 2023;
      4. You must abide by all the Competition Ts and Cs.
    2. For the purposes of the Competition, Mukuru will need to process your personal information.  For example, your personal information will be used to validate your entry, make the reward available to you if you are a winner, announce the winners on social media and potentially share your personal information with 3rd parties in other countries.  Protecting your personal information is important to Mukuru and will be processed according to our Privacy Notice.  By entering the Competition, you consent to us processing your personal information for the purposes of the Competition.
    3. Entrants who fulfil the requirements of clause 2.1 and 2.2 above will be referred to as “Qualifying Participants” for the purposes of the Competition.
  3. The Prize
    1. All Qualifying Participants from South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Malawi (who sent the minimum amount during that week) will be entered into a weekly random draw and a grand total of 15 (fifteen) random Qualifying Participants stand a chance to win the Prize during the Competition Period.
    2. The Prize consists of the following:
      1. 2 x stadium entry tickets to watch Crystal Palace versus Liverpool or Man City in the UK on 25 February 2023 or 11 March 2023 (the random draw will determine for which of the two games you win tickets);
      2. Return flight tickets (economy class on a carrier of Mukuru’s choice) to the UK between February 2023 and March 2023 (depending on the game for which you win tickets) for the winner and the chosen partner. It will be up to Mukuru to decide on which dates you need to fly and flights cannot be changed once booked;
      3. Accommodation (of Mukuru’s choice) (depending on flight dates) in the UK for the winner and partner;
      4. A total of GBP200 (Two hundred Pounds) spending money during the trip;
    3. Exclusions: all expenses not expressly listed in clause 3.2 above. The winner and the chosen partner will be solely responsible for all such expenses.
    4. Two winners will be drawn weekly (three winners to be drawn weekly for the last three weeks). Winners will be announced on Facebook weekly and also contacted via telephone. Winners must be able to supply Mukuru with a copy of their valid passport and work permit.
    5. If a winner:
      1. cannot be contacted within three weeks; or
      2. cannot provide Mukuru with a valid passport and work permit as described in 2.1.3; or
      3. cannot travel during February 2023 or March 2023 (depending on what tickets were won), then the winner will forfeit the Prize. Should the winner be able to travel and have met all the requirements set out in 3.5.1, but the winner’s visa is subsequently declined upon application, the winner will forfeit the Prize but will receive a consolation prize to the value of R10,000 (local currency equivalent).
    6. Prizes are allocated as follows:
      1. Total of 2 x winners to be selected on 28 November 2022 out of Lesotho and Malawi
      2. Total of 2 x winners to be selected on 5 December 2022 out of Zimbabwe and South Africa
      3. Total of 2 x winners to be selected on 12 December 2022 out of Botswana and Zambia
      4. Total of 3 x winners to be selected on 19 December 2022 out of Lesotho, Zimbabwe and South Africa
      5. Total of 3 x winners to be selected on 26 December 2022 out of Malawi, Zambia and Botswana
      6. Total of 3 x winners to be selected on 2 January 2023 out of South Africa, Zimbabwe and Malawi
    7. General
      1. Mukuru employees will not be allowed to enter the Competition.
      2. Qualifying Participants must be 18 years or older.
      3. A Qualifying Participant can only win once during the Competition Period.
      4. If the winner is not fully vaccinated, Mukuru cannot guarantee that the winner will be able to make use of the Prize in full or in part and Mukuru disclaims all liability in this regard.
      5. The winner and the chosen partner needs to hold a valid passport.
      6. Mukuru cannot guarantee that the winner or the partner will be able to enter into the UK, the accommodation provided or into the stadium and disclaims all liability in this regard.
      7. Flight and accommodation details cannot be amended.
      8. The Prize cannot be exchanged for cash or another reward.
      9. If for any reason, the Competition cannot run as planned because of any technical failures, unauthorised intervention, computer virus, mobile network failure, tampering, fraud or any other causes beyond our control which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, we reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify, suspend or cancel the Competition and/or to disqualify any individual who (whether directly or indirectly) causes (or has caused) the problem.
      10. Mukuru may vary the terms of or cancel the Competition at any time. Mukuru may vary or cancel the Competition at any time without any liability to any person involved directly or indirectly in the Competition.
      11. Mukuru cannot be held liable for any type of loss, expense or damage to any person participating in the Competition.
      12. Neither Mukuru  nor its agents shall be responsible for any loss or misdirected entries, including entries that were not received due to any failure of hardware, software, or other computer or technical systems affecting participating and/or prize redemption process of the Competition.
      13. A failure by Mukuru to enforce any one of the terms and conditions in any instance(s) will not give rise to any claim or right of action by any Qualifying Entrant or winner. If Mukuru does not enforce a provision, this will not mean that Mukuru has given up on or lost any rights.
      14. Mukuru will not assume any liability to any participant, Qualifying Participant, or prize winner in connection with or arising out of the Competition however it is caused, including for any costs, expenses, forfeited prizes, damages and other liabilities
      15. These Competition Terms and Conditions are governed by and determined in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe.
