To increase your monthly spend limit to R150 000, you’ll need to get the new Mukuru Account and Card by visiting your nearest Mukuru Branch or Agent

The new Mukuru Account & Card has a total monthly spending limit of R150 000. Limits per certain transaction still apply, which include:

• Sending EFTs: R25 000 per day
• Swiping/tapping your card at till: R25 000 per day
• Online spending: R25 000 per day
• Cash withdrawals at retailers (WiCode): R15 000 per day
• ATM withdrawals and cash back at till: R5 000 per transaction, R15 000 per day
• Airtime, data, electricity, DStv: R25 000 per day

There is no limit on receiving funds into your Mukuru Account but the spend limits above still apply.

Yes, your current Mukuru Card will work as normal. The new features are only available on the new Mukuru Account and Card. No. Once your new Mukuru Account and Card have been activated, your previous card will be deactivated and it’s recommended that you cut it up. Once you get the new Mukuru Account & Card, your old card will stop working and your funds will automatically be moved over to your new account.

There is a once-off activation fee of R85 for your Mukuru Account and Card. It provides access to the new account features and benefits, including EFT payments, higher spending limits (up to R150,000 per month), EFT and salary processing and cheaper ATM withdrawals. The R85 will be debited from your account balance when you load funds or if you have sufficient funds on your old card. In addition, the new Mukuru Account comes with free PIN resets and Account-to-Account (card-to-card) transfer fees have also been reduced from R9.99 to R5.00.

The Mukuru Account & Card has a monthly service fee of R30

You can transfer money directly from your Mukuru Account to all South African Banks, making it easy to pay friends, family or businesses. This also includes immediate payments.

Yes you can send EFTs to all South African banks.

Yes you can receive EFTs from all South African banks.

• For normal EFTs, if payment is made before the banks cut-off time the payment will reflect in your recipients account the same day. Payments made after cut-off will reflect the following business day. Note normal EFT payments aren’t processed over Sundays and public holidays, meaning it will reflect on the first business day afterwards.
• Immediate/real-time payments will reflect within 1 – 60 minutes, depending on the sending bank. Immediate/real-time payments can be processed Monday – Sunday, 24hrs a day.

Yes. Once you’ve opened your new Mukuru Account, you must share your Bank Zero – Mukuru, branch code 435000 banking details with your employer and have your salary paid directly into your account.

No, you can only use your Mukuru Card within South Africa for now. Keep any eye for new services in the future.

Yes. Your Mukuru Account allows you to send money to more than 60 countries using Mukuru’s international money transfer service. Note that you will receive lower transfer fees when sending from our Mukuru Account.

Yes. Qualifying customers may be eligible to apply for Fast Loans through their Mukuru Account.

• You’ve had an active Mukuru Card for at least 3 months.
• You regularly receive money into your card.
• Your card is not due to expire within 2 months.
• We will review your application and your eligibility is based on a few factors:
  • Your income and spending activity on your Mukuru Card
  • A a credit bureau check.

Yes, once you get the new Mukuru Account & Card, your old card will stop working and your funds will automatically be moved over to your new account.

• The Mukuru PIN – this is the PIN that you chose during signup. It is used to access and make transactions from your Mukuru Account on your phone. This is done via the Mukuru App, WhatsApp & USSD.
• The Mukuru Card PIN, this is needed when using your Mukuru Card at ATMs and card machines. This PIN was SMS’d to you during signup.

No, your old card PIN will not work for your new card. When you get your new Mukuru Card you will receive a new 4-digit Card PIN via SMS.

Yes, the 4-digit PIN you used to access your old Mukuru Card (via WhatsApp & USSD) is the same PIN you use for your new Mukuru Account.

If your card was lost, stolen, damaged or you suspect fraud, you must immediately block it. This can be done on WhatsApp or USSD via the Mukuru Account menu by selecting “Manage Card”, “Card Options” then “Stop Card”. Alternatively you can call us on +27860018555 and we will assist.

Yes, if you already have your Bank Zero – Mukuru EFT details with branch code 435000 they will remain unchanged and continue to work on your new Mukuru Account.

When you open your new Mukuru Account & Card, the money on your old card will automatically load onto your new Mukuru Account.
